The Ankh Secret Santa

In case you haven't looked at the calendar lately, the various holidays are approaching (or have already passed). Whether you celebrate the Solstice, Christmas, Wintersday, or have already celebrated Hanukkah, the holiday season is upon us.

So in typical Ankh fashion, let's have some fun!

First, yes there will be an Ankhie party. Details will be forthcoming but right now it looks like we will party on Saturday, Dec 21st. The time & place aren't set yet but instead of the usual fun in the sun down on the beach in LA, we may move the party to some place more wintery. Feel free to make your opinion known in the comment section - beach party or snow party?

That gives us about 2 weeks to get ready and one of our most fun traditions is the Ankh Secret Santa. The way it works is:

Reply to this thread and tell us you'd like to be in on the Secret Santa fun. You have until 9pm (EST) Sunday night, December 15th to decide if you want to participate (hopefully everyone will because this is fun).

After everyone has entered, on Monday December 16th (probably that evening) I will randomly shuffle up the names and draw a giftee for everyone. I will email you, pm you, text you, send a carrier pigeon, or in some way let you know who's name you have received.

Sometime before the party on Sat, Dec 21st, go out and farm, craft, or search the trading post for a gift for that person.

At some point during the party, we will announce that's time for the Secret Santas to exchange gifts. At that time, you send the lucky person their wonderful gift. The we all go oooo, ahhhhh, and thank the person who sent us something.

Ground rules:

The gift must be an in-game item. So no, you cannot send Fell a case of beer or Strixy a slab of bacon or send Lisa some sexy outfit and ask her to post pictures on the forums of her wearing it (not that anyone would do that for fear of losing their life).

Please keep the cost of the item to no more than 5 gold. Not everyone in the guild is a farming madman like Olrun and has hundreds of gold to spend on presents. So let's keep this reasonable so that ALL Ankhies feel comfortable participating. Besides, it's the thought (and fun) that count, not the value of the item.

Don't reveal who you're the Secret Santa for! If it's someone you don't know, need ideas, or need a couple of gold to go shopping with, then contact me, and only me! I'll act as the go between for you if you want to ask the person something like if they have a particular mini or weapon/armor, etc.

Since it wouldn't be fair for me to know who my Secret Santa is, my name will not go in the hat this year. Instead, I will coordinate and help with ideas, questions, etc.

I'm in. Was hoping to run it myself but you have a greater attention to detail so I'll come up with a contest or something for the Guild Party.

This sounds like fun! I'm not a rich guildy but I'm sure I can come up with SOMETHING! I'm not sure how to go about finding out what someone wants though. Do I just bluntly ask? No, I suppose it's called SECRET Santa for a reason. I'll just spin the wheel of fortune.....Darn! Bankrupt again!

Also, let's make this easy on anyone who gets me:

I like collecting dyes of all types, even inexpensive dyes, and would be happy to add a couple more to my collection this season. This would make me really, really happy.

However, if someone wants to go the extra mile, I need a [Rock]. Not just any rock though; I need Myron's rock specifically. The purpose of this will be made clear after the rock is obtained and Myron confirms it is his.

This sounds like huge fun, but my birthday is on the 21st and my family is coming to be with us for that and Christmas (they live FAR away), so I won't be able to come.
