| Hiya Ankhie type peoples!
It's time for another one of Myron's Haiku contests! We haven't done one in a while and they're always a lot of fun so let's do this!
As a brief refresher, the haiku is a Japanese verse in three lines. Line one has 5 syllables, line 2 has 7 syllables and line three has 5 syllables.
Here is a sample Haiku:
Myron leaves the cliff a gentle nudge from behind Lisa laughs at him
If you've never written one before or have questions about it, I suggest the following webpage:
http://www.poetry4kids.com/blog/lessons/how-to-write-a-haiku/
Yes, it's written for kids but it's a great page on how to write them.
Now, for the rules:
1. You must post your haiku here by Sunday, August 3, 2014 at 6:00 am eastern daylight time. The haiku's will be judged by a secret panel of judges on Sunday August 3rd and the winner announced after the lottery winner is announced. (You know, right before we start the guild missions that Sunday.)
2. The subject of the haiku must be a Guild Wars 2 theme. It can be about anything in the game - a mission, a NPC, a player character, anything like that. You can also choose to write your haiku about a guildie if you wish.
3. Abide by the PG-13 rule please. I would like to see our Guild Apprentices enter the contest too so let's not post anything here that they can't read.
4. You may post more than one haiku if you want to have fun with it BUT you must tell us in the forums which one you want to be judged. If you make multiple posts and don't tell us which one to judge then we won't judge any of yours.
5. You may post an additional haiku if you're posting for someone who doesn't have a forum account - as in one of the Apprentices. In other words, a parent may post for their child if the child wants to enter. In that case, both will be judged.
There will be at least one winner who shall receive at least 10 gold (maybe more) and a few exotics if I happen to farm any between now and the contest ending. There may be additional winners depending on how much you impress the judges and how many people enter.
If you have any questions please contact me in-game, leave me a message here on the forums, email me, or send smoke signals... whichever method is easiest.
OK, let's see those entries!
Myron

| WOW! These are some amazing entries! You folks rock! Well, except for that Zeph guy... his haiku stinks! *knows Begin will hate that comment* Keep 'em coming! The secret panel of judges are going to HATE me for involving them in this. I will get talked ugly to during the discussions for deciding a winner. Come on! Let's see some more entries!! | |

| I was wondering what I would write about when a random interaction occurred. So here goes my first ever Haiku When I sat, she lay When I slept, she snuggled in When I left, 'twas sad So, I'm standing in DR when this little Asura comes up and stands between my long Norn legs. I moved away a fraction, and she sat at my feet. I thought that was odd as there was plenty of space around us, and since I didn't want to accidentally kick her, I moved farther away and sat down. She came over and lay on my lap. I stayed there for a bit, and then decided to take a nap too as it had been a long day in the draining dust of Dry Top. So I went to sleep and she moved into the snuggle position. Like mother and child, perfect position, we lay like that for a good half an hour or more. Then when I had to leave, I said it had been fun snuggling, she was sad, said Bai, I bowed, and took my leave, feeling somewhat nostalgic about this encounter. Here are my screenshots. | |

| I'm sorry all... things have been rather unsettled for me recently and I apologize for not getting back to this.
First, this was a TOUGH contest to judge with so many awesome entries! You folks know how to knockout some Haiku! I'd love to declare almost all of these entries the winner and be done with it. In the end though, we had to decide and after much wailing and arguing, we decided on a winner:
1st place: Plum 2nd place: Chris
There will be consolation prizes mailed out to as many of you as I can afford lol
Thank you everyone that entered, these were some amazing haiku entries!! | |
