Greetings Ankhies!
Raids are upon us! It's time to figure out your best build... get on your most padded armor and go DIE A LOT TOGETHER! WOOO!
We are setting aside 2 hours each Sat 3pm-5pm EST for raids!
This time may expand or shift slightly as we figure out what works best for everyone.
We are all learning this together so please be patient!
VENT is highly highly recommended for raids. Please be able to get on if possible!
Raids are end game HIGH level challenge content. It's dungeons on steroids. They take a lot of coordination, patience, and teamwork.
please listen to officers and commanders in your raid group
Do not expect to finish the raid! There is a very wide learning curve and it's going to take us a while to get good at these. We will start out just seeing how FAR we can get! and spend the time getting used to how the raids are set up. So please do not come in expecting to complete it.
ONLY join a raid if you have 2 hours of free time ahead of you. Raids are long and difficult and need all ten people. Leaving your raid team halfway through because you forgot your friend was coming over is not very nice! So make sure you have the time before you start!
Be open to suggestions from your teammates.. This is NOT casual game play. You may be expected to do certain things or bring certain skills.

If you're new to raiding in MMOs, watching videos beforehand is the ultimate way to be prepared.

I watched that video too, and thought it was pretty good, it doesn't explain what's going on in the fight though. So if you haven't been in it, this may look a little crazy with them shouting BLUE and GREEN. They also shout a lot of adult language, this one's not for the kiddos lol.
The thread this was posted in on Reddit is very informative about what types of builds they used, and gives some tips on builds, strategies and party compositions. HERE is a link to that thread, also with a warning--it's reddit, so language.
I spent some hours working on the first boss, and while we didn't take it down, we got a good feel for it, and did get closer each time. Everything Strix says is right on point. A couple of her points to stress:
You need to be on vent. You don't have to talk, but you need to listen. Stopping to type a question or response will get the party killed.
If you don't have the time, wait until a time that you do. Swapping out people too often really stalls a group's progress. It's a lot of work to organize ten people into their best roles then make a strategy. If people keep changing, it takes that much longer.
Listen to the commander. They have some experience. This takes a large amount of coordination, and if even one person is off doing their own thing, it could cause a party wipe.
And be flexible. Some builds won't work on this boss, and some gear stats can throw the whole party off. As an example, if you are going in as ranged damage, but have tons of toughness, you'll make the tank's job very hard when you aggro the boss to the wrong spot. You may need to try different gear or traits or skills. It's a learning process.
Most of all though, it's a lot of fun!!! I'm going to miss this guild run, but I wish you all the best of luck!!

Well, if y'all can push back after five because I normally find myself at home by 6 on Saturdays. But, don't change everything for me only, do what's best for the guild
