Lottery for the week ending 11th December 2016

Oh god, I feel like I'll get fat just by looking at the photos.

When I lived with my parents my mom cooked like crazy for holiday, now I do carry a bit of that tradition.

There is nothing better then smell of cookies and cooking mixed with Christmas tree smell and all the decorations.





Here are just a few pictures.

First is Alex with vanilla cookies, just one of the cookies I make.

The 2nd is a Russian salad that it's called shuba. It's made with beets, potatoes, pickles, carrots, hard boiled eggs, herring and some sour cream and mayo. Some people add onion too, but not me.

I also make French salad (olivié), which is similar to American potato salad.

The last one is turkey (or chicken) with mlinci (English word would be pasta tatters) that we normali have for lunch on Christmas.

Normally, in Croatia people roast a whole pig   or lamb - and it's mouth watering

Ok, now I'm hungry!  

Well, I'm pretty much in love with carbs. So anything along those lines.

I REALLY like cranberry sauce. Not so much the kind that comes out of can (although I'll eat that) but I really like a good
homeade one made from fresh cranberries.

Something going back to my childhood are Kaloche's. Not the kind that are found all over Texas. I was quite sad to discover
those taste nothing like the cookies that my grandma always made every Christmas. They look like this...



I'm thinking I might have to try making them this year. (I've never attempted making them. The recipe looks long and complicated).
