Heart of Thorns Guild Hall Vote

Hi Ankhies and Ankhettes! Not that anyone is excited by it or anything, but we're going to finally be able to have a Guild Hall in GW2. Strixy, Will and I have some info we'd like to share with you folks.

Unlike in GW1 where we just went and bought a guild hall and started putting stuff in it, this time we're going to have to earn the guild hall. I'm going to put some links in this message so you can go read up if you haven't already. The first is a general post about guild halls:

As you can see from that, we're going to have to schedule a large scale guild mission to go "take" the guild hall. We can't schedule that event yet until HoT is released and we see what exactly we have to do before setting forth on the mission. Anet has provided us with general info but we all know that a) everything is subject to change, and b) there are details which have not been released yet.

Once we have more details about the process (including how long it will take), we'll put more info up here and schedule it for a day & time (think weekend) when as many guild members as possible can participate.

One of the first things we need to decide is which guild hall we're going to try and take. There appear to be two different ones we can decide between.

Lost Precipice - The Lost Precipice is a cliff based GH and I know a lot of people like the idea of this one because of gliding. Just remember that the GH will be an instance so we don't even know if gliding will be allowed there. Naturally, this is Strixy's favorite.

Gilded Hollow - Gilded Hollow is a cavern that is Myron's choice because hey, it's a swamp! Who needs gliding when we have fresh alligator milk daily!

So what we're going to do is vote in a poll to decide which guild hall we're going to try and claim. We want to preface this by saying that as always, the Guild Leaders will have the final decision BUT we want your input. And unless some information is released after this poll is taken that causes us to make a change, expect us to go with a simple "majority rules" philosophy.

You may also reply in this thread and tell us which one you as an individual prefer and why.

Feel free to also add any additional information about guild halls that you may have read. Please keep the info from reputable sources, wiki, Anet announcements, etc. Yes, I know Dulfy is almost always correct with info but let's stick with official sources where possible. And tell us your source and link it please. None of this "My third cousin was in LA talking to their best friend who heard a Dev in map chat say...." We don't need to be basing a guild decision on rumors. In other words, don't make us have to delete your reply

Pffffft!  I will personally BET you that this lovely sophisticated guild will pick Lost Precipice!

Strixt, Strixy, Strixy... who the hex wants to be trying to focus on guild matters like planning raids with owls flying over and dropping poop bombs on us! I have faith the guild will be sensible and pick the nice, safe, lush, green swamp.

Where's my BAMBOOOOOOO!!!??!!! ::sips sake:: I'm holding my vote; I need to think about this. Owls? Gators? Hmmmph, just need a nice grove of bamboo; I mean come on, where's your priorities?

In short; You can fly in Lost Precipice. You should vote for Lost Precipice.  
On the other hand, given the emphasis that has been placed on gliding with the design of Lost Precipice it's certainly worth considering how accessible Lost Precipice will be for players who aren't level 80 yet.



Slightly off topic: In that same video I linked, skip to 1:10:xx for the new action camera.    

I can't believe I'm about to admit this...but I vote for swamp. For some reason it looks so beautiful compared to the baren cliffs of Lost Precipice. Maybe I've lived in swamp land for too long now, and I've converted.

I went for Guilded Hollow...I like the way it looks, it has lots of hidden caves and a pirate ship. The arena is a more open space, and the devs said overall, the buildings in this hall are bigger. There are still lots of high places to glide from.

Also the Swamp has a pirate ship, and everyone gets their own personal Quaggin or skritt..according to m 3rd cousin's Aunt who over heard a conversation in LA...

WOOT! We have Leigh and Karen voting for the swamp... the rest of y'all better think carefully about how you cast your vote... you don't want a visit from the Ninja Mom Team...

Cliffs, cuz we already got a dang swamp in Gw1..

***WARNING!!!*** (mostly for Begin) There are quite a few puns during the Gilded Hollow feature of the video.

Sorry, Myron. While Gilded Hollow is awesome; I really like the cool Mt. Olympus feel of Lost Precipice. Oh, and waterfalls! I'm a sucker for beautiful landscapes.

Forget it Betty... you only voted for the Cliffs in hopes I would send Leigh and Karen after you... ain't gonna work...

I voted for lost precipice because well gliding!

Good lisa! i didn't want to have to point out how CONVENIENT all those cliffs are for PUSHING myron OFF THEM!

But Strixie, with gliding, Myron has no worries about falling, and if Lisa burns the glider, he has a back up, I vote the swamp. Besides when you get to the bottom by gliding, you have to turn around and walk or run all the way back up.....huff 'n' puff! cough! cough! wheeze! wheeze!

I am struggling with this one. For the Hall its self I like the look of Gilded Hollow, but for the weapon skins I like Shimmering (from Lost Precipice) better than Tenebras (from Gilded Hollow).

they both looks really cool... it's really hard to decide...

This is a tough one - as they both seem to have so much going for them, but since this is where we will be living when not off battling monsters, the lushness and the beautiful shine on Gilded Hollow definitely draw me more to it, especially after spending so much time in the barren lands of Dry Top and the Silverwastes. And then there is the bar!!! That bar is totally awesome. I see great parties there, and if we get this one I shall shout you all drinks! I make quite the range of cocktails :-) Plus, it looks a lot safer to get drunk in and not fall off the edge of a cliff when I'm sozzed.

Gilded hallow is the stone I cast, can't wait to hear it echo.
