As everyone knows by now, the Guild Hall upgrades and Scribing is costing us a fortune in mats, gold, and time spent farming. You folks have been awesome in donating the things we need but the sad fact is, we need more. Sooo, I'm going to run a little lottery that will raise part of the money for the upgrades we need AND will reward at least a couple of you folks back.
I have purchased 2 gem cards that I'll going to give everyone a chance to win.
Did I say "win"? Well, as a matter of fact, I did. BUT, it's going to cost you and you have to follow the rules. My gems, my rules!
This is what we are going to do... now pay attention and read carefully so I don't have to disqualify anyone:
I am going to "sell" 100 lottery tickets to anyone who is interested. They will be numbered (what else) from 1 to 100. These tickets will cost 5 gold each in game. You may buy up to THREE tickets for a total of 15 gold. The reason I am limiting the number of tickets you can buy is to give as many guildies as possible a chance to win.
The tickets will go on sale on Sunday, Jan 3rd at 8 am EST and will be sold until I sell all 100 tickets. IF YOU SEND ME GOLD BEFORE THEN I WILL SEND THE GOLD TO WILL AND YOU WILL NOT GET A LOTTERY TICKET. I'll just figure you're making a donation to the Scribe.
The reason I'm announcing in advance is because I want everyone to have a chance to win this. There may be some people in the guild who don't have 15 gold so I'm going to wait this week for people to earn the money. I'd also like to see those of you experienced players help some of the inexperienced, or broke, players to earn the money. Help your guildies out!
Once I start selling the tickets, you'll send me an in-game mail with 5, 10, or 15 gold in it depending on how many tickets you want. I will then add you to the spreadsheet I'll be keeping with your ticket numbers.
Once I have sold ticket #100, I will end the ticket sales. That's it... get in early or don't get in.
The numbers you get will depend on what order I open my in-game mail ... there is no selection of numbers, you get what you get. And yes, if you buy multiple tickets you will get two or three consecutive numbers.
After the sale has ended, I will then come back to the forums where I will post a link to a spreadsheet so everyone sees what numbers they have.
Next, I will announce in advance when I'm doing it, but I will log on to my GW1 account, go to the guild hall, and do a /roll 100 to generate the winning numbers. Everyone that has a GW1 account is invited to watch the roll. I figure that's the fairest, and most transparent, way of doing this. I want to make sure everyone knows it's fair and legit since I'm asking you to buy your tickets.
There will be TWO winners. First place will win a gem code good for 2000 gems. Second place will win a code for 1200 gems. That's not too shabby - donate 5 gold to the guild and have a chance at winning 1200 or 2000 gems.
All proceeds from this sale (which will hopefully be 500 gold total) will go into the guild bank to be used to support guild hall upgrades and our nekkid Scribe who is working so hard to craft stuff for us.
The only person not eligible to buy a ticket is me. Everyone from Strix down to the newest guild member can buy a ticket. Well, until the tickets sell out anyway.
If you're a new player, or someone who just spent all your gold, or someone who's partner raided your bank while you weren't looking, then please contact any officer if you need help raising the money. (Yes I'm putting the Officers on the spot here.) We will help you farm at least 5 gold so you can buy a ticket...
If you have any questions about how this works, or wish to make a suggestion, do it NOW in a reply to this thread. Once I start selling tickets I will NOT make any changes to the procedure.
And NO, I will NOT accept bribes... that wouldn't be fair since the only person who could successfully bribe me is Lisa and that wouldn't be fair to the rest of y'all.
So get your gold ready and be ready to start buying tickets this weekend.
